TOM DIERENFELD
Lead Pastor/ Pastor of Student Ministries
I was born and raised in southern Minnesota and am forever thankful for my roots! I'm also thankful for my beautiful family and the opportunity to have served at LifeSpring since 2012! I like to jog, play frisbee, music, read occasionally, and eat pizza. A "perfect day" for me would include donuts for breakfast with my family, a run while listening to Bonhoeffer's "Cost of Discipleship," lunch with Bob Goff, followed by a nap, and then a birthday party with grilled ribeye steaks and Donut Haus almond poppy cake with cream cheese frosting for dessert. Maybe a bonfire too, and then to bed early. My other perfect day is flying across the country and back even if only to have lunch with a friend. #WorthIt. I'm a pretty simple guy. I just want everybody to love Jesus because following Him is the best. Oh, and my claim to fame is that one time I ate a whole pan of Jell-O in one sitting.
SCOTT SLAYBACK
Executive Pastor (former Lead Pastor!)
I did most of my growing up in Northern California where I learned to get lost in the fog, enjoy 100 plus heat, and eat lots of fruits and nuts. I studied Religion at the University of California at Davis. I met my wife Julie while studying at Denver Seminary. We have two amazing adult sons, Luke and Paul. I enjoy hiking, biking and home projects.
My longing is for our church to be a grace-drenched, resurrection people, who are living sign-posts to the reality of Jesus’ Kingdom. Through our good works of love and justice, we desire to be witnesses to our Lord Jesus who is making all things new. We pray that through us, He draws many closer and closer to Himself.
ELYSE AGUIRRE
Pastor of Connections & Formation
I am both a Loveland and a LifeSpring native—I was born on a Tuesday and brought to LifeSpring my very first Sunday. After graduating from high school, I attended Capernwray Bible School in England and then Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where I received my B.A. in Pastoral Studies with an emphasis in Women’s Ministry. I graduated with my M.A. in Christian Formation and Soul Care from Denver Seminary in 2016.
I am thrilled to be back home at LifeSpring as the Pastor of Connections & Formation. I count it a privilege to help people relationally belong at LifeSpring and grow in their understanding and experience of God’s incredible and unfathomable love. In my free time, I can be found paddle boarding, taking bubble baths, eating chips and salsa, and spending quality time with my husband, Gus, my step-son, Max, and our daughter, Olivia.
MELANIE KOLB
Pastoral Assistant
I had the privilege of growing up on a ranch in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. I attended college at Oklahoma Baptist University and earned a degree in Family Psychology.
Randy and I have lived in Loveland since 1993 and have attended LifeSpring since 1996. We have three children; Jake, Mattie and Macy.
I'm excited to be back on staff at LifeSpring (Fun Fact: A few years back I was the Children's Ministry Director). LifeSpring has been instrumental in my growth as a follower of Jesus and has given me an amazing spiritual family. I hope to play a small part in helping others find that kind of home here.
I love to laugh, lay in my hammock, experience God's creation, eat Nutella by the spoonful and need to work on self-discipline. :)
MELINDA WRIGHT
Director of Worship Arts
I visited Lifespring when I was a junior in High School as the guest of a friend. Back then I planned to do music in college so I could be a worship leader.
Many twists and turns later with years under my belt in the sports television industry, I followed my husband (that same friend I visited with in High School) back to Lifespring for his time on staff. Together we have two precious little boys and are doing our best to grow into the people God is calling us to be. Part of that has been discovering that God didn’t give up on those hopes I had to lead worship so many years ago.
I am honored to serve the worship ministry and volunteers and to support our church’s vision to put God first by being people who seek to encounter God uniquely in worship through the arts.
MELISSA ST. CLAIR
Children’s Ministry and Kids Hope USA Director
Much of my childhood was spent in the Pacific Northwest, specifically on Orcas Island, in the beautiful San Juans. All of have my adult work life has been connecting with children in a variety of situations including: center and home childcare, church, and public schools. I completed my BA in Elementary Education through Colorado Christian University.
I started attending LifeSpring in 2008 and have been on staff for the past nine years. It’s been a wonderful gift to be a part of a church and team where I’ve been able to grow spiritually, develop sincere relationships, and safely navigate the ups and downs of life. I enjoy paddle boarding, crocheting, and being with friends and family.
SCOTT FIRESTONE
Student Ministries Associate
I was born and raised in Colorado Springs, where I got my degree in English Literature from CU-Colorado Springs. I moved up north when I married my wife, Janna, 27 years ago. We have two boys: Quint (20), and Ian (16). I've been involved in youth ministry for nearly 30 years, both as a lay leader in local churches and for 12 years as an editor on the Youth Ministry team at Group Publishing. Now I work remotely for a Dept. of Defense contractor in Washington. I used to have free time, and when I did you'd find me playing board games or reading a book.
It's an honor to step into the youth associate role until the church finds a full-time youth person. I'm where I am today because a lay leader saw something in me when I was a goofy teenager, and it changed the trajectory of my life. I want to be a part of seeing that happen in the lives of other teenagers.
LISA KENNISON
Local Outreach Ministry Director
Colorado become my home in 1993, after spending most of my growing up years in the Midwest. My husband and I moved up and down the Front Range before purchasing our first house, in the LifeSpring neighborhood, in 1998. It took us a few years to find the church, but as soon as we walked through the doors we knew we’d found more than a place to spend our Sunday mornings - we’d found our Colorado family.
I officially joined the staff in 2008 as the Kids Hope Director. Since that time I’ve played a few different roles, but feel serving as the Local Outreach Director is what I’ve been called to do. This position allows me to not only use my BA in Special Education/Psychology and Masters in Social Work, but more importantly gives me the opportunity to be blessed by, love on and serve the neighborhood where we started our family.
Some of my favorite Outreach partners are my husband, Keith, our daughters Avry and Riley, our sons Brady and Zachary, and bonus daughter (in law) Katie. It is a privilege to do life with them and to be part of a larger group of believers that lives to Share God’s Hope so genuinely and graciously.
STEPHANIE FRANCIS
Director of Communications and Administration
I grew up way over in New Hampshire right in the corner between Vermont and Massachusetts. One year we had 14 snow days and we were in school almost until July. Apparently wanting to suffer more severe winter weather, I attended North Park University in Chicago, where I met my now-husband Brad on the first day of freshman orientation. We moved to Colorado shortly after getting married. God seems to keep moving me west, but finally with a little less frost bite! With our son, Sam, we love having family adventures, camp outs, road trips, and good food. Let's go out for Thai anytime.
I love this church, and I love being a part of this mission and vision. I think it’s a special thing to find a church so deeply committed to serving its immediate neighbors and community.
RHONDA GRISSOM
Bookkeeper
I was born and raised on a farm in West Texas where snow is scarce and blowing dirt is abundant. I married my husband, Chip in 1987 and we have two grown children and a golden lab/retriever. Before we married, Chip asked if I would be willing to move to Colorado in the future, we moved here in 1993 and it was the best direction the Lord gave us. I enjoy hiking, gardening, camping and spending time with my family. The people at LifeSpring are friendly, caring and have the Lord’s desire in their hearts to do His work.
